MARAWI CITY, October 31, 2017–The task group Bangon Marawi in collaboration with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has started the construction of around 5,000 temporary shelters for Marawi evacuees.

The 547th Engineering Battalion Lt. Col. Joujie Juguilon said, their backhoes, bulldozers, graders and backhoe loaders were already deployed in Marawi.

“With all resources from Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and different government agencies, magtutulong-tulong talaga and with the coordination and dedication ng bawat agency na maibangon ang Marawi,” Jaguilon said.

The relocation site is located in Brgy. Sagonsongan, Marawi City and is divided into 5 areas; each area is expected to accommodate around 1,000 housing units.

The construction workers are locals of Marawi who lost their jobs due to the war. They will be employed on a cash-for-work basis. (JM/Duyog Marawi News)
