ILIGAN CITY, November 19, 2017 – After conducting several need assessments with the Internally Displaced Persons in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte last October 2017, a Shelter project was brought into the action plan then cooked for implementation by Duyog Marawi (DM) through its Balo-i team.

The implementation of this project is doing well according to Sittie Nurjanisah M. Maidan, Social Mobilization Officer of Balo-i team.

Maidan said, “so far, so good” when asked how was the implementation process of the projects has been doing.

This Shelter project has been implemented in Ba’abol Toril Evacuation Center, Barangay Bolao, and Barangay Sarip Alawi Evacuation Center, Balo-i, Lanao del Norte.

In Ba’abol Toril, 33 partitioning of IDPs’ households have been completed which started implementing on October 31, 2017 and finished on November 3, 2017.

Two Shelter 1 and two e-shelter projects for four home-based IDPs have been implemented at Barangay Bolao on November 3, 2017 and completed on November 4, 2017

While shelter project for 84 IDPs at the evacuation center in Sarip Alawi operated on November 3, 2017 and 33 out of this 84 has been served as of Nov. 5, 2017 while the remaining 51 is still ongoing.

“The importance of building shelter to the IDPs in Balo-i area is to provide privacy and security in every family” said Jamalic Adiong-Guro Umpar, Project Coordinator.

Shelter is one of Balo-i team’s project by providing the IDPs with partition and elevated bed that will add comfort to their sleeping condition accordingly.

It has e-shelter (extension shelter) that is for crowded room of IDPs that needs extension; Shelter 1 that offers partitioning of rooms with single bed for home-based IDPs or those in the evacuation centers; and Shelter 2 similar with the latter shelter but offers double deck instead of a single bed.
