LUMBATAN LANAO DEL SUR, December 02, 2017—The internally displaced persons IDPs) that until now are spread in several areas outside of Marawi City continue to appeal for assistance.

“Skaminamgabakwit poon sa Marawi, naimantona so walaynamyatotong, napamangni kami satabang ago support sii kogobyerno” (we are IDPs from Marawi, our home was burned, now we are asking for help and support from our government), said one IDP in a recent interview with Duyog Marawi.

Recently faith-based organizations, namely the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro City, Social Action Center (SAC) and Duyog Marawi (DM) visited the IDPs in Brgy. Picotan, Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur and distributed gift packs, hygiene kits and conducted a feeding program to children.

A psycho-social activity was also conducted by the visiting faith-based organizations that were welcome by Mayor Allan Lao of Lumbatan town.

For his part, Vice Mayor Mohiddin Lao Mua thanked the faith-based groups.

“Panalamat kami sagiyangkaya a t’loa organization a myakaw Masaya imanto sa bapsaap yamida-mida kami sa agama napogugup siran samgatao a kyaapektoan a gyang kaya a siege” (we are grateful for the three organizations that come to us because although we have different religions they are still helping people who are affected by the siege), Mua said.
